Holidays
How many days of holidays am I entitled to?
Following the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) of Agency Temps, you are entitled to 20 days of vacation per year (prorata).
- This amount is included in your hourly gross salary (8.33%).
If you are younger than 20 years or 50 years and older, you are entitled to 25 days of vacation per year (prorata).
- This amount is included in your hourly gross salary (10.60%).
How does the holiday credit work?
The amount paid for your holidays is included in your gross salary; on every pay slip you will notice that the amount is not paid out directly.
Instead it is put aside in your name.
Every month you put aside the equivalent of approximately 1.6 days of vacation (for 100% contract).
During your holidays, the equivalent of the hours that you take as vacation are then paid through this fund.
This is a legal guideline which has been put in place, in order to avoid that people paid per hour miss weeks of salary
because the don’t enter their work hours during their holidays.
Please note that the holidays reserve can only be paid when:
- effective vacations are entered into Fieldglass (zero hours and comment in the box, see image below) and validated;
- your assignment ends and credit are being paid out
How do I calculate the number of vacation days covered by my holidays credit?
The holidays are paid as follows:
- Amount in holidays pot / (Base Salary + Bank Holidays part) = Number of holidays hours
- Number of holidays hours / Number of hour per day according to contract = Number of holidays days
These figures appear on your contract of assignment; in order to calculate how many days your reserve can support, you can do the opposite calculation.
Example:
Holidays pot: 2074.15 CHF
Base Salary: 31.03 CHF/h
Bank Holidays: 1.35 CHF
- 2074.15 / (31.03 + 1.35) = 64.05
- 64.05 / 8 (Number of hour per day according to contract)= 8 vacation days supported

What happens to my holidays at the end of the year?
The remaining amount in the holiday pot of the current year will be transferred to the next year, i.e. the counter is not reset at the beginning of the year.
New Annual Leave Policy:
1. Full Utilisation of Annual Leave: All agency temps are now required to take their full annual leave entitlement within the calendar year. This change is being implemented to ensure that everyone takes the necessary time off to rest and recharge.
2.Consumption of Leave Accrual: For those of you who have been on assignment at PMI for a number of years, we have noticed that many of you have built up a significant leave accrual by carrying over your annual leave entitlement from one year into the next. Effective immediately, we will be asking you to clear your historic annual leave accrual as soon as possible. We will be working with your managers to ensure they understand that you will be taking additional time off in order to meet this request.
3.Two-Week Consecutive Leave: In accordance with Swiss labour law, all employees (including agency temps) must take a leave period of at least two consecutive weeks each year (pro-rated based on assignment length). This is a mandatory requirement designed to promote well-being and work-life balance. This policy is effective from 1st January 2025 and we ask you to determine which two week period you wish to book off, no later than 31st March 2025.
For more information about annual leave legislation in Switzerland please refer to article 329c(1) of the Swiss Code of Obligations.
