Sickness

What is the difference between my sickness private health insurance and the loss of gain insurance?

Your private health insurance is something that is not linked to your work contract; the purpose of this insurance is to cover your medical bills (doctor, hospital, pharmacy and such).

The loss of gain insurance is something that you pay though your pay slip, since it’s a social deduction. This will cover your loss of gain, which means the working hours that you cannot perform due to your absence.

What to do in case of sickness absence?

Should you be absent for sickness, you have to inform immediately your line manager and your Manpower team.

In case your absence should last more than 2 days, you need to send your medical certificate to your Manpower contact. Manpower will announce your sickness leave to the Loss of Gain Insurance and will pay you the compensations accordingly with your next pay-slip.

As of when and how much I’m reimbursed through the Loss of Gain Insurance?

The waiting period is 2 days. This means that you will be reimbursed as of the 3rd day (in a row) of absence. The Loss of Gain insurance will reimburse you 80% of your insured salary.

The Loss of Gain Insurance covers sickness days up from the 3rd day until 30 days. In case of work incapacity over 30 days the file is transmitted to the insurance for an expertise.

Where can I find more information about my Sickness Insurance?

You can find further information on insurance coverage on the General Terms and Condition, which you received together with your work contract in chapter IV. – Insurance.

Accident

What is covered by my accident insurance?

You are covered for professional (paid by Manpower) and non-professional accidents (paid through the social deduction on your pay slip).
Please note that should you have an occupational rate smaller than 8h per week, you won’t be covered for non-professional accidents.

What to do in case of accident?

Should you be absent for accident, you have to inform immediately your supervisor and your Manpower contact.
Send your medical certificate to your Manpower contact as soon as possible. Manpower will inform SUVA and Loss of Gain Insurance.
Even if you had an accident without absence days, please inform Manpower, because you are also covered for the medical expenses such as doctor and pharmacy.

If you don’t have a medical certificate (doctor / hospital) of your accident, SUVA will not accept your declaration.

As of when and how much I’m reimbursed through the Loss of Gain Insurance?

Manpower will cover the first 3 days (in a row) of absence, and you will receive 80% of your insured salary.
SUVA insurance will then cover this amount as of the 4th day (in a row) of absence.

Maternity

If you are here, you must surely be pregnant: CONGRATULATIONS!!!

For the time being and until your doctor stops you for good before the birth, you have to send the medical certificates to pm.lausanne@manpower.ch (for Lausanne) / pm.neuchatel@manpower.ch (for Neuchatel)+ coreadmin@manpower.ch.

All documents: maternity allowance, family allowance etc. cannot be done in advance as they need the exact date of birth.

Do not hesitate to contact us at pm.lausanne@manpower.ch or pm.neuchatel@manpower.ch if you have any further questions.

Entitlements

– Entitlement to maternity benefit starts when the child is born and provided the conditions are met

– It is paid for a period of 14 weeks / 98 days (14 weeks paid according to the cantonal law + 2 weeks unpaid but protected by the law = a total of 16 weeks absence)

– If the child has to stay in hospital for at least 3 weeks after the birth, the employee can request that the payment of the benefits starts when the child actually returns home

Duties

– By law, you cannot return to work before the 9th week after the birth

– If you return to work part-time or full-time before the end of the 14 weeks, your maternity leave ends

– You must contact the Manpower team pm.lausanne@manpower.ch / pm.neuchatel@manpower.ch  in preparation for your return to work, as well as your manager one month before your return, to ensure that it goes smoothly.

  • NB: You will be sent an official communication from Cosimo (compensation fund on the right to compensation) with the date of your return to work. As soon as you receive it, please share it with us.

Once the child is born, please complete and sign the maternity allowance application (part A) with the required documents, see link below:

Then send it back to us: coreadmin@manpower.ch so that we can forward it to the Fund in charge of payment.

Paternity

You are entitled to paternity benefit under two conditions:

  • You are the legal father of the child
  • At the time of the child’s birth, you have paid AHV contributions for the 9 months preceding the birth.

If these conditions are met, the 2-week leave can be taken in one or more periods, but no later than 6 months after the birth.

The loss of salary is compensated by the paternity allowance, based on the declared salary, up to 80% of gross income.

The application must be made after the leave has been taken (if the leave is taken in periods, only one application after the last leave)

As soon as the decision is accepted by our compensation fund, your compensation will be paid directly by MANPOWER.

You will find both documents here:

As soon as you have completed part A and signed it, please return the form to us with the following MANDATORY documents

  • Copy of the birth certificate or family certificate (readable PDF copy, to be sent only to coreadmin@manpower.ch)

PS: illegible documents or documents other than those mentioned above will not be processed.

As a reminder, the birth of a child entitles you or your spouse to family allowances. To do this, you can apply through Manpower.
